Senior Manager, Social Media
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Senior Manager of Social Media to own and evolve Native Pet’s organic social presence, with a primary focus on Instagram and TikTok.
This person will be our in-house social expert, someone with a strong point of view on what Native Pet should be doing on social media, what will resonate with our audience, and how our approach should evolve over time.
You’ll partner with the Head of Brand Marketing to translate broader brand priorities into a clear, thoughtful approach to social, with a strong point of view on what our channels should do, what will resonate with our audience, and how we can continue to improve. You’ll independently develop plans, bring forward ideas and recommendations, and take ownership of turning them into great work. You’ll also be hands-on in managing our channels and community, creating content, and using performance and social insights to make our presence better over time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead Social Planning & Channel Direction
- Lead the day-to-day direction and ongoing development of Native Pet’s organic social presence across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube.
- Develop a clear point of view on what we should be posting, why, and the role different types of content play in our broader brand and marketing priorities.
- Build and refine channel plans and content mixes across education, entertainment, product, community, culture, and brand storytelling.
- Develop ideas and recommendations to grow Native Pet’s social audience and deepen engagement, creating content and programming that gives people a reason to follow, participate, share, and come back.
- Translate broader brand and business priorities into social plans, with clear goals, success metrics, and activities that support them.
Build Community & Keep Us Culturally Relevant
- Own Native Pet’s approach to community management, including comments, DMs, tagged content, and proactive engagement.
- Build relationships with pet parents, customers, creators, and the broader pet community while maintaining a distinct Native Pet voice.
- Treat our community as an insight engine, surfacing recurring questions, feedback, behaviors, and conversations that can inform our content and marketing.
- Stay deeply plugged into platform behavior, internet and pet culture, and the conversations shaping our audience, with a strong instinct for what is genuinely relevant to Native Pet and what isn’t.
- Maintain a pulse on the competitive and category landscape, while also looking to best-in-class brands outside of pet to understand how social is evolving and identify whitespace for Native Pet.
- Turn cultural, community, and competitive observations into original ideas and recommendations that feel distinctly Native Pet.
Create Content & Own Our Channels
- Own the social content calendar and day-to-day management of Native Pet’s organic channels.
- Concept, film, edit, and publish platform-native content across entertainment, education, product, community, and behind-the-scenes storytelling.
- Be comfortable getting behind and in front of the camera when an idea calls for it.
- Source and brief creators to develop UGC and social-first content, and partner with our creative team on larger asset needs.
- Capture content at brand activations, shoots, retailer moments, and company events.
- Manage external social partners, including our YouTube agency, and partner with the TikTok Shop team on social commerce initiatives.
Learn, Optimize & Share What’s Working
- Own monthly organic social reporting across our channels, using Dash Social and platform-native analytics to identify learnings and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Track audience growth, engagement, reach, and content performance to understand both the health of our channels and where we have opportunities to grow.
- Go beyond what performed to understand why, draw clear conclusions, and recommend what we should do differently, grounded in both performance data and broader business priorities.
- Use performance to continually refine our content mix, creative approach, publishing strategy, and platform priorities.
- Regularly bring the broader team learnings, ideas, opportunities, and recommendations based on what you’re seeing across our channels, community, category, and culture.
- Partner across Brand Marketing, Creative, Influencer, CX, and Retail/Sales to shape ideas early, align stakeholders, and move social initiatives forward.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 4+ years of experience managing and growing organic social for a consumer-facing or social-first brand.
- A strategic thinker who can develop social plans and recommendations, not just execute a content calendar.
- Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok and what makes people follow, engage with, and return to brands on each.
- Strong instincts around content mix: when a brand should educate, entertain, sell, participate in culture, or engage its community.
- Strong cultural judgment and an original point of view. You understand what’s happening on social without relying on trends to dictate what the brand does.
- Strong creative instincts, writing skills, and an understanding of brand voice.
- Comfortable filming, editing, and appearing in content when needed.
- Analytical and able to turn performance, community feedback, and social listening into clear recommendations.
- Highly proactive. You bring ideas and opportunities to the team rather than waiting for a brief.
- Organized, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple channels, creators, partners, and priorities at once.
- Experience with creator/UGC programs, TikTok Shop, or social commerce is a plus.
- Experience with tools like Dash Social, CapCut, Air, and ClickUp is a plus.
- And, of course, you should really, really like dogs and cats.
